Scholarship Description: All UK bats are insectivorous and are a priority for conservation under EU and UK legislation but there has been little work to date on the specific diet of different species and the relationship of this to habitat and foraging range. This research aims to establish the relationship between diet, foraging area and habitat as the basis for evaluating the potential to encourage particular bat species in areas where they could benefit agriculture by predating insect pests.
